The Support Services team administers a machine lifecycle replacement program. Support Services has identified a list of standard machine replacement models and regularly reviews the model specifications to promote the use of quality, cost effective technology that leverages developments in the industry.
A process to identify resource-intensive operations and tasks across OVPUE is used to establish where special accommodations in replacement equipment are required (e.g., laptops for staff that are highly mobile, needs for greater computational resources, non-standard accessories, etc.). Specifications for higher-resource replacement computers are also maintained to facilitate long-term financial planning throughout the IT lifecycle. An established policy for approval of acquisitions of such hardware is in place.
